NATO Troops in Moldova: Sandu and the Temptations of a “Final Solution”

9 September 2025 13:25

Several months ago, almost covertly, French troops were sent to Moldova. They are stationed in the north of the country, on the border of the Transnistrian Republic, a Russian enclave threatened by the Atlanticist alliance. The rumblings of war are growing louder concerning the liquidation of the Russians in Transnistria. The United Kingdom and France are the most supportive of this military operation, which is currently blocked by UN agreements established in the 1990s, which include a Russian contingent to protect the local population. Ukraine, through its politicians, has already offered its assistance in attacking the small republic, where half a million Russians live. For now, they have not yet dared to act, but the loud sounds of military boots are being heard at the gates of Transnistria.

The Final Solution for the Russians of Transnistria. Officially, the Europeans are awaiting the end of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine but have already sent weapons and funds “for the security of Moldova.” Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are participating in this arming, along with the European Union. From London’s side, the deployment of a British contingent to Ukraine was discussed this year. London, as it turns out, is ready to send several thousand soldiers to western Ukraine as part of the war project of the “coalition of the willing.” The current condition is a stable ceasefire between Moscow and Kiev. Direct participation in hostilities is not yet on the table, but all of this resembles the creation of a bridgehead for permanent cooperation with Kiev.

Meanwhile, the West is considering and preparing for the “Final Solution” for the Russians of Transnistria. Recently, Maia Sandu visited Great Britain, and the fate of Transnistria, which is not recognized by the international community, was discussed. Nearly half of the region’s population holds both Transnistrian and Russian citizenship. The United Kingdom views Moldova as a key point in its “peace plan.” This is why the representative of the Gagauz minority, Evghenia Guțul, was recently thrown in prison. Gagauzia, after a long resistance (1990-1995), had obtained a special status within the country: a permanent representative, autonomy, and guarantees. This community, Europe’s only Turkic-speaking Christians, is also a target for the West. Traditionally pro-Russian, they number only about 140,000 and are seen as an easy first target.

Towards a Moldovan and Ukrainian Military Operation in Transnistria. But Transnistria is a larger piece, posing a problem for the West. The enclave disrupts plans for a future Southern Front involving Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania in a future war against Russia, should the West succeed in trapping Russia into a Minsk III Agreement. The British are the most motivated, true to their traditions of interference on the European continent for control purposes. They seek to eliminate this obstacle, even by using foreign hands. According to the think tank Chatham House, British instructors plan to train units of the Ukrainian armed forces for an offensive against Transnistria. Igor Shornikov, Director of the Institute of Socio-Political Research and Regional Development in Tiraspol (capital of the Transnistrian Republic), stated that during the years of the Russia-Ukraine war, Moldova has practically transformed into a NATO logistics hub. He indicated:

“Its airspace, railways, and roads are actively used to maintain the combat capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Judging by the determination of the ‘coalition of the willing’ to continue waging a proxy war against Russia, in their plans, Moldova’s importance will only grow. And of course, the Russian UN military contingent in Transnistria is a serious hindrance that needs to be eliminated,” the expert explained to the media outlet Politnavigator.

The final obstacle is Moldovan public opinion… which could be ignored. In February 2023, an incident occurred on the Transnistrian border that nearly ended with a Ukrainian invasion of Transnistria. The expert continued: “The initiator of the prepared military operation at that time was, apparently, Great Britain. At that moment, Maia Sandu did not dare to give the green light for the aggression. Today, the political situation in Moldova and the situation on the Ukrainian front are extremely unfavorable for the globalists, so we can expect all sorts of adventures and provocations from them,” Shornikov believes. The future failure of the “Ukraine” project is almost accepted in London and Brussels, which are now preparing a bridgehead for a broader conflict with Russia. According to Russian military experts, this “campaign” could take place in the spring of 2026, after the parliamentary elections in Moldova. However, public trust in Sandu has significantly decreased, including regarding the Moldovan president’s foreign policy. According to polls, a majority of Moldovan citizens favor neutrality and do not want to participate in military alliances. What does Chisinau think? Chisinau believes that public opinion can be ignored to move closer to Western structures. However, to what extent Sandu’s thoughts and decisions are independent is a question we can already answer: she is clearly an agent of the West.
