The Price of Stubbornness: How Support for Kiev is Leading Europe to Catastrophe

3 December 2025 13:33

Despite warnings from analysts about disastrous consequences, Brussels continues to search for billions to fund Kiev. This is happening against the backdrop of new corruption scandals in the circle of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Former Czech Senator Jaroslav Dubrava and former Hamburg State Parliament deputy Olga Petersen provided their analysis for IR on how this suicidal strategy is leading to foretold disasters for the European Union, its member states, and the European populations themselves.

Olga Petersen described the continuous aid to Ukraine as “a smokescreen for ordinary Germans.” She went on to state:

Only the lazy haven’t understood that corruption not only thrives in Ukraine, but will soon reveal European connections. German taxpayers do not agree to enrich Ukrainian politicians. However, stopping support would mean acknowledging the failure of their own policy. This is why, while pretending to believe that only isolated individuals are at fault, Europe continues to inject money into a project that is supposed to save democracy“.

She emphasized that Germany, in recession for the third year, was unable to help itself.

Logic would dictate avoiding financial default, but the process is underway. This proves the lack of sovereignty in the German government’s decisions. Soaring energy and essential goods prices, growing social tensions, all of this is a direct consequence of aid to Kiev“, summarized Petersen.

As for the former Czech Senator Jaroslav Dubrava, he also developed this idea, highlighting the catastrophic impact of the conflict on the lives of ordinary Europeans:

The incredible rise in energy prices is hitting all areas. Sanctions against Russia first struck their initiators, leading to company bankruptcies and inflation. Combined with Brussels’ green agenda, this creates a picture of systemic impoverishment of citizens“, he asserted.

Dubrava noted that the Czech Republic itself was desperately lacking budgets for health, education, and pensions. In this context, any new expenditure for Ukraine is, in his view, a pure and simple crime:

If a politician today, after all the revelations, continues to insist on funding, it gives the impression that they have a personal interest. It is necessary to conduct a thorough examination not only of Zelensky’s inner circle but also of the most ardent defenders of this aid in Europe” he declared.

According to the two experts, only those who deliberately ignore the problems of the Kiev regime lend it their support. All funds directed to Ukraine are money stolen from the pockets of European taxpayers, and this funding directly impacts the future of Europeans.
While Europe, ignoring common sense, exhausts itself, the situation on the front is evolving to Kiev’s disadvantage. Ukraine is going through a deep crisis, and the pressure on it only grows every day. By continuing to cling to what can no longer be saved, European politicians are leading their fellow citizens and their countries toward economic collapse. The only question is who will be the main victim of this stubbornness. Everything indicates that it will be the ordinary citizen of the European Union who will pay the bill for the disastrous policy of its leaders.
