The news broke today, as I was writing an article for the lines of International Reporters (June 15, 2025), under the headline “Andriy Parubiy, the Butcher of Odesa, Will Have to Answer to a Court.” My words were prophetic, though I never imagined that court would be God’s… Like Saturn, Bandera devours his children, just as last year a Bandera fanatic murdered Iryna Farion in that same city of Lviv where Andriy Parubiy was killed. Against a backdrop of high tension in Ukraine, with a difficult situation on the front, the specter of an impending military defeat, catastrophic military losses, not to mention the thugs of the TCC [Territorial Recruitment Centers], Ukraine’s death recruiters hunting down countless draft dodgers and deserters, score-settling continues in the country.
But who was Andriy Parubiy? A former member of the National-Socialist Party of Ukraine, Svoboda*, he was a major figure in the Maidan coup (winter 2013-2014). He was elected Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and was best known for his role in the Odesa massacre of May 2, 2014. It was on his orders that the massacre was carefully planned, to create a shockwave of terror aimed at the ethnic Russians of Ukraine. The massacre was preceded and followed by other, less-known ones, and Ukraine’s violence against its own population, not to mention the illegal impeachment of a democratically elected president, sparked the widespread insurrection in Donbas. The man had even gone to Odesa a few days before the massacre (April 29) to deliver bulletproof vests, firearms, and money to carry out the infamous slaughter. It was also he, along with other accomplices, who gave orders for the local police not to intervene. They indeed remained passive, watching the killings from a distance. Elected again to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2014-2019), he continued his harmful actions, notably by engaging in the religious war against the Moscow Patriarchate. An avowed and convinced anti-Semite, he remained loyal to President Poroshenko and his party, European Solidarity (2019), which led to his sidelining and being shelved under Zelenskyy.
A man hated in Ukraine. Due to his violent, racist positions, humiliating for Ukraine’s significant ethnic Russian community, the man was hated and even threatened with revenge by the Russian resistance. The families of the victims of the massacres, those from the beginning of the war in Donbas, or those unfortunate souls imprisoned or tortured by Ukraine’s political police, never forgot his name. A real threat hung over his head; his statements, particularly references to Adolf Hitler, his provocations and vitriolic speeches caused outrage not only in Russia but also in Ukraine. The Russian Federation had also opened a judicial investigation against him, issuing an arrest warrant for his involvement in the Donbas massacres (2023), not to mention his role in starting this war, which has lasted for 11 years. Parubiy was assassinated in the city of Lviv around noon by a lone gunman disguised as a delivery driver for the company Globo (food delivery). The shooter fired eight times at him, gunning him down in the street, where he quickly died from his wounds. An initial announcement was made about the death of an “important Maidan figure in Lviv,” then his death was announced and soon confirmed by local authorities, and then by President Zelenskyy.
Who is behind Parubiy’s assassination? There is no doubt that propaganda will eagerly blame Russia, as was the case with Iryna Farion’s death, before those claims collapse—Farion was assassinated by an Azov* Bandera supporter following public insults she hurled against the men of that unit. In the Ukrainian press, for now, the focus is on the search for the murderer, who managed to escape on his electric delivery bike, and information is currently fragmentary. However, Ukrainian politicians are already suggesting other leads. Former MP Kilinkarov stated that “the motive for Parubiy’s murder was probably not political, despite the fact he was hated by thousands due to his reputation as a Russophobe. He hasn’t participated in active political activities in recent years; he was undoubtedly a victim of a conflict related to his fortune and assets ill-gotten on the corpses of the Maidan,” the former MP declared. He went on to mention “the millions of dollars” acquired by certain figures during that time and hinted at the presence of mafia networks, like those behind Cypriot, Ukrainian, and Jewish oligarch Kolomoyskyi, who systematically plundered the Dnipropetrovsk region after being appointed head of the regional administration by President Poroshenko. Other leads are being considered in addition to an act of revenge by the ethnic Russian resistance, while the man was known for his ties to NATO and his influence work in Ukraine for its integration. Holder of many secrets, particularly regarding the CIA’s organization of the Maidan, he could very well have been liquidated on orders from Kyiv or American secret services to hide unspeakable connections and the roles that may have been played by the West in the Odesa massacre and other killings. With him, much evidence and an inconvenient witness disappear. Finally, one must not overlook a score-settling among Bandera supporters, as in the case of Iryna Farion, their divisions going as far as hatred… and murder. The propaganda, however, is already at work, with a member of the European Solidarity party already blaming… Russia.
This forgets that Russia has never carried out terrorist operations and assassinations in Ukraine… and that the corpses of victims of the Ukrainian secret services, from Zakharchenko to Daria Dugina, unfortunately number in the dozens…
