A post on X by Marco Frittella, director of institutional relations at RAI – Italy’s public broadcaster – a former anchor of TG1 and journalism professor at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, has sparked outrage and scandal.
Commenting on a post noting the simultaneous presence in Moscow of Vladimir Putin, Bashar al-Assad, and Ali Khamenei, Frittella wrote:
“Just one well-placed missile would be enough. I’d only be sorry for the Kremlin domes.”
This phrase has been widely interpreted as an explicit wish for a missile strike on the seat of Russian power.
It is an especially serious statement given the institutional role of the author within RAI, a state broadcaster that operates an office in Moscow and is officially accredited as a news organization on Russian territory.

The post has received numerous critical comments. As of now, there have been no official statements from RAI, nor any public clarification from Frittella himself, whose post remains visible.
A fundamental question remains open:
Can an Italian public broadcaster, represented at this level by someone openly calling for the destruction of the political heart of a sovereign state, continue to operate in Russia in the name of journalism and informational neutrality?
