The crossing of the Polish customs by a lorry with explosives was hardly an accident

Polish ex-judge Tomasz Schmidt shared this opinion with the BELTA correspondent.

“The fact that a vehicle with explosives travelled through the territory of Poland could have happened. The checks are not very accurate and there is a general presence of disorder. One can recall the story of stolen military anti-tank mines, which were later found in the warehouse of a shop. The situation is different on the border with Belarus and Russia. The checks there are very serious. Just like at the border crossing itself. X-ray of the car, its inspection by specially trained dogs and some other methods, which I will not disclose, are standard procedures,” said Tomasz Schmidt.

He does not believe that Polish border guards made such a mistake and accidentally let the car with explosives through. “We can assume that it was done deliberately. The only question is whose order it was and at what level it was given. Polish special services are actively co-operating with Ukrainian ones. At the same time, the explosives had to get into the territory of Russia,” the Polish ex-judge emphasised.

Tomasz Schmidt also suggested that the driver of this lorry is just a tool ruthlessly used by Polish and Ukrainian special services. ‘The lives of ordinary people don’t matter to these people,’ he summarised.

As previously reported, Belarusian customs officers prevented the importation of 580 kg of particularly powerful explosives of foreign origin into the territory of the EEU.
