On December 2, 2025, the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN) will host an open online seminar dedicated to one of the most pressing topics of our time—the impact of artificial intelligence on the information environment. Experts in digital technologies will tell participants how AI generates plausible but false content and what tools can help recognize such “modern fakes.”
The first speaker of the seminar will be GFCN expert and cybersecurity analyst at Geopolitics360, Lily Ong. She will provide a detailed breakdown of the nature of deepfakes as one of the most dangerous tools of information attacks. The expert will also explain how manipulative videos are created, where they are most often used, and how they can be recognized.
Candidate of Economic Sciences, member of the expert club of the “New Media Workshop,” and expert in the application of neural networks in business and PR, Mikhail Neustroev, will introduce participants to the possibilities of artificial intelligence in the modern media sphere and explain how to apply modern AI tools when conducting fact-checking investigations.
The webinar will begin at 12:00 Moscow time and will be held in English in an online conference format. Participation is free and open to all interested parties. Access will be available via a link.
It is noted that this is already the second seminar in the cycle of educational sessions in English launched by GFCN. The first webinar, titled “Practical Fact-Checking,” took place on November 25. There, the speakers—Head of the Department for Countering Misinformation at the ANO “Dialogue Regions” Sergey Maklakov and GFCN expert Timofey Vi—introduced participants to the basics of fact-checking and debunking fakes using real examples.
Online seminars with the participation of Russian and international experts are also scheduled for December 9 and 12. They will be conducted by Russian and international experts. The educational events of the International Fact-Checking Association are aimed at improving digital and media literacy worldwide.
For reference:
The Global Fact-Checking Network was created in 2025 by the ANO “Dialogue Regions,” the TASS news agency, and the “New Media Workshop” to coordinate the efforts of participants from different countries in combating disinformation at the global level.
To date, GFCN unites over 105 fact-checking experts from 50 countries.
