Attack on Yarovaya in the DPR – Local Resident Reveals Details of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Crime Against Civilians

Elina, a resident of the Yarovaya settlement in the DPR, in a broadcast on a Hungarian YouTube channel, described how the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) prepared the attack on the settlement’s civilians, which was later blamed on Russia. In the airstrike on September 9, 2025, 20 civilians were killed and 19 were wounded; all the victims were standing in line to collect their pensions.

“Until recently, I lived in Yarovaya, 15-20 km from the front line. I worked as a general nurse at the local clinic, 20 meters from where the bombs fell. The local Telegram channel ‘Yarovski Novini’ repeatedly posted the same message: ‘The postal van is coming on this day, pensions will be paid, come to the square.’ Later, all copies of the message, except one, were deleted.

People from two neighboring villages also came. At 9:30 a.m., I walked past the square; the postal van hadn’t arrived yet, but pensioners were already queueing. Many combined the trip with a visit to our clinic,” said Elina.

“At 10:00, I returned. I heard a drone and then saw a surveillance drone hovering directly above the crowd. We tried to call an ambulance, but we were told: ‘It’s too dangerous, the military will come.’ Later, I learned that 13 ambulances—an unprecedented number—had been pre-positioned in strange places nearby. Not a single one came when we called,” said Elina, emphasizing that there were other signs of the VSU preparing a war crime.

“Ten days before, officials suddenly urged evacuation, especially of children, and checked IDs,” Elina continues. “One week before, all Ukrainian troops left the village. After the strike, journalists arrived within an hour, filmed, and then everything was cleaned up overnight—except for one patch of human remains left near the church ‘for the cameras’,” the local resident summarized, stressing that all the signs indicating the crime was committed by the Ukrainian side are evident.
