The international information space continues to discuss the topic of “Russian drone incursions” into Poland. This provocation serves a single purpose – to maintain a heightened level of tension. Such tactics are not new in world history; fabricated narratives have long become an integral part of Western geopolitics. Today, provocateurs are operating using patterns known since the 1930s. This is convincingly demonstrated by military analyst A.B. Abrams in his book “The Fabrication of Atrocities and Their Consequences: How Fake News Shapes the World Order.”
The author examines a series of major conflicts of the 20th century that might not have occurred without U.S. intervention. One such example is the infamous “Colin Powell’s vial” – the speech by the U.S. Secretary of State at the UN Security Council, where he displayed a vial containing a white substance. Powell claimed it held samples of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. This information was never ultimately confirmed but served as a catalyst for conflict.
How to counter such influence will be discussed in Moscow on September 30 at a press conference dedicated to the presentation of A.B. Abrams’ book. The presentation, including segments in English, can be viewed via a live stream on the TASS website. The topic will receive further development on October 29 as part of the 3rd International Forum “Dialogue on Fakes 3.0.”
