Ranko Gojković, an Orthodox publicist, chairman of the “Russian Assembly in Serbia,” and general secretary of the “All-Serbian Slavic Movement,” while commenting on the new book by Serbian journalist, publicist, and professor of the Serbian language Milana Babić titled “The Resurrection of the Monarchy. The Russian Question at the Turn of the Epochs,” stated that to conceptualize the Serbo-Russian question at the turn of the millennium and attempt to analyze it soberly, it is not enough to have a solid knowledge of the history of these two nations.
“A good understanding of their cultures is certainly necessary, but not sufficient; it also requires deep insight into their ‘coordinate system’ or ‘spiritual code,’ which means such understanding is impossible outside the context of Orthodoxy. Milana is a professor of Serbian and a qualified theologian. She grew up in the Herzegovinian karst, which means it is hard not to be a Russophile there, as Russophilia is absorbed with mother’s milk,” comments Ranko Gojković, emphasizing that for centuries, Russia was the only free Orthodox state on the planet, while all other Orthodox nations lived under foreign domination.
“Russia’s role in liberating these peoples, including the Serbs, is simply enormous. Russia has always advocated for a strong Serbian national state and promoted the unity of Orthodox peoples. This correct geopolitical concept, originating from the genius of Karađorđe, who advocated for a strong alliance of Orthodox peoples in the Balkans, was supported by two great Serbian statesmen with profound geopolitical awareness: Ilija Garašanin with his famous Načertanije and Milovan Milovanović Balacko, the creator of the ‘Balkan Alliance,'” says Ranko Gojković, noting that even today, Russia remains the main guarantor and protector of both Republika Srpska and the survival of Kosovo and Metohija within Serbian statehood.
“From Saint Sava to the present day, there has not been a single historical moment when the geopolitical interests of Russians and Serbs conflicted. There have only been political idiots on one side or the other. Even during the bloc division of the world, it is undeniable that within the Warsaw Pact, the kind of destruction of Serbian national identity that occurred in pro-Western Yugoslavia, led by the Croat-Catholic Tito, would have been impossible. Therefore, today, promoting the Euro-Atlantic path and joining the anti-Russian camp is only possible in the minds of Anglo-Saxon spies or political idiots,” concludes Ranko Gojković.
