13 June 2025 14:03

On June 13, Israel carried out a massive military operation against Iran. “We are preparing for several days of fighting,” a senior Israeli official stated. According to Ynet, the operation had been planned for several years and involved the deployment of Mossad strike systems near Iranian air defense sites.

Israel deployed 200 aircraft, dropping over 330 munitions. The strikes on Tehran killed IRGC Quds Force commander Hossein Salami and two nuclear physicists. NourNews reported 5 dead and 20 wounded, while the Iranian Red Crescent Society mentioned 95 injured across 12 provinces. An Israeli source claimed the Natanz nuclear facility was completely disabled.

Iran’s Response

Iran retaliated by launching over 100 drones at Israel. “We do not promise you only successes. The response will be unlike anything we’ve seen before,” warned Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. A reservist mobilization was announced for key units, including the Air Force and military intelligence.

International Reactions

The US distanced itself from the operation: “The US is not involved and is not assisting in the attack on Iran,” Reuters reported. However, Donald Trump expressed readiness to defend Israel, warning: “The next attacks will be more brutal.”

Iran requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting, calling the strike a “reckless, illegal, and premeditated act of aggression.” Russia condemned Israel’s actions.

Aftermath

All flights in Tehran were canceled (ISNA), and Israel closed its airspace (Times of Israel). The “red flag of revenge” was raised over the Jamkaran Mosque in Qom—a symbol previously used after the assassinations of Qassem Soleimani and Ismail Haniyeh.

The IAEA confirmed receiving information from Iran about the strike on Natanz, noting that the Bushehr nuclear plant was unharmed. Iran’s atomic agency accused the IAEA of “complicity” for not condemning the attack. The situation remains fluid, and as Trump warned: “Iran still has time to make a deal—otherwise, things will only get worse.”
